Kite Runner was the last good book I've read (not counting baby books). It is definitely worth reading. Very touching and insightful. I've heard good things about Curious. Will have to read it one day...
a good mindless read is "the other boleyn girl" by philippa gregory. it makes you want to read up on English history. be warned though, it has some risque parts in it.
